Effective Communication is SHARED.

Specific, Honest, Aware, Reciprocal, Empathetic, Diligent.

Teams who communicate effectively, can increase their productivity by up to 25%!

  • Effective communication is Specific and detail oriented, helping listeners gain a more precise understanding of what you are feeling. No one else can know what you are feeling or thinking unless you tell them.

Hands are connected, providing each other support during a weight sharing activity.
  • Work to be Honest with yourself so you can be honest with others. Honesty includes identifying your needs; you have to practice listening to yourself, too.

  • The first step to communicating your needs and emotions is to develop Awareness of how and what you are feeling. Being Aware of your own biases helps ensure that what you say is received by others as intended.

A standing flyer is leaning into the feet of the person on the ground. They are increasing their trust in one another in a foundational acrobatics progression. They are expressing their comfort as the lean and knee bend increase.
  • Reciprocal communication means being equally interested in giving and receiving feedback. Do you hear and listen as well as you speak? Effective communication is always a two way street.

Two people are holding one hand and leaning away from one another: a weight sharing counterbalance. Only when each of them leans backwards, is this position successful. Each person must trust and communicate!
  • Increase your Empathy by actively listening in order to validate others' experiences and perspectives versus listening to formulate a response.

Two spotters are helping the flyer feel comfortable as their feet leave the ground. The are exhibiting teamwork and good communication.
  • Being Diligent means you work hard to communicate effectively. It shows that you care about others, continuously trying to improve your own skills and in turn, your relationships.

After establishing trust, one person is lifted by another into bird. The flyer is being held up by the base's feet on their stomach. The base and spotter are both making sure the flyer feels safe, as they push their boundaries.
